Features and Functions.
AlpacaEASE/HerdEASE is a "work in progress." We are always expanding and improving the program based on feedback from clients like YOU! Always feel free to send an email with your comments and suggestions (we also accept testimonials!!)
Version 5 includes all the features and functions already available in prior versions, but with many NEW and IMPROVED features. Here's a brief list:
Completely re-written in Filemaker10, which is fully supported and approved for all current computer platforms and operating systems
New format, dynamic, aesthetically pleasing screen design using highlighted tabs for easier navigation. Consistent look and general design layout across all modules make it easy to earn and use!
Multi-screen pop-ups keep original screen while accessing info for add or update in new screens.
Data and screen formats have been separated for easier future upgrades.
Dynamically change your background color (8 color choices); automatically changed for every screen!
Set your own font and colors on your farm/ranch information for your report headers
Codes are easy to setup and maintain, so you have better control of those drop-down lists
New extract of herd and ancestry data directly from ARI and AlpacaNation
New Reference Library has been added to track your reference materials and sources, including direct links to your favorite websites
New Pasture Rotation has been added for tracking field changes
New animal journal has been added
New Animals of Interest screen has been added to track animals you may be interested in for future breedings or purchase. Animal and contact information can be manually entered, or extracted directly from your AN searches!
Ancestry has been completely reformatted; easier to access and update
Group processing has been improved and simplified
The calendar has been completely re-formatted
More photos (up to 10 photos per animal); easier photo management; you set the "default" photo for your main page and sales reports
Expanded Document management; import documents in most formats or link to your important documents (such as ARI certificate, histograms, medical reports, insurance policies, etc)
Easier animal lookup in Herd and Ancestry on every screen! Easily "filter" your selection criteria by sex, status, location, and owner
Easier contact lookup on every contact screen; uses the same general format as Herd and Ancestry
List screens (in Herd, Ancestry and Contacts) are dynamically generated, with the ability to "filter" criteria, sort on various fields, search by name and print or export your generated list directly from the list screen
Many animal-specific reports can be run directly from the animal's Herd screen; medical history, current breeding detail and breeding history, fiber, shows, procedures due, etc
The "lightbulb" has been added for easy on-line self-help. Available in most screens, click on a lightbulb for some quick help. Also, a new "hover-over" option has been added to some fields (not used on the more obvious fields.) Hover your cursor directly over a field for a brief "tool tip" popup.
New icons added in place of the old grey buttons. Used consistently throughout, with the same placement on most screens, add a pleasing and easy to follow format
Several new fields have been added; including BVD and fiber fields for EPD tracking, also microchip brand and location
"Fiber" has been separated into 2 categories, Shearing and Fiber Testing/Analysis
Expanded custom reporting lets you create reports using virtually any data! You pick the fields, the order of the fields, up to 3 sort fields per report. You can save your custom report specs to use as often as you need
New Field Names screen lets you name the fields for your custom reports!! If you want "short name" to be "common name"; "fiber" to be "fibre", or "full name" to be "registered name", you have that control. (Note: this feature is only available on custom reports.)
All custom reports and many of the standard "pre-formatted" reports can also be Exported to Excel
This is just a brief list of all the new and improved features! Version 5 has been released without a User Guide. When you first start up AlpacaEASE/HerdEASEv5, after entering in your ranch/farm information, you will be taken to a new Intro screen that provides an overview of the basic formats and icons used throughout the program. After that, additional help is just a "lightbulb" away!
